Look at the recent famous TVB dramas shown in Astro. One of it is talking about how those auntie working hard to maintain the family and take care of all family members. Another one is about how an auntie become the stock market god by using her auntie's daily sense.

But I most impressed on the common skill they have in both drama - calculate the price and make the best purchase decision. For example, which detergent is cheaper and better in quality, which stall in market selling cheaper vegetable....
And I met 2 of them last Saturday.
Last Saturday 2 women (let's not call them auntie here, else I will not allowed to finish this post), dragged me to
The Body Shop to find some products to help their skin. Why I said "drag"? Coz I was sick that time, and so desperate to go home and have more rest. And since I was sick, I won't be able to smell anything, and won't help them on giving any feedback to them.
After checking on each and every favor of the body butter, discussion, and walked out the store and came back again 5 minutes later (very normal for a Malaysian shopper to choose what they want, but they won't buy it straight away. They will walk away, and come back the other time), yes, finally both of them have decided on what they wanted to buy - one body butter each, in total 2 body butter.
One of them (SK) asked if the body butter comes with FREE spatula.
The shopkeeper showed a spatula from another tray, and said "RM4.50".
SK said "Then I would rather use a ice cream stick" .... :-)
Then both of them found out The Body Shop was having a promotion, where you buy more items to enjoy a better discount.
2 items - 5% off
3 items - 10% off
4 items - 15% off
5 items - 20% off
6 items - 25% off
7 items - 30% off
So obviously they were buying the 2 body butter, so they have to pay
2 x 59.90 x 95% = RM113.81

And they wonder if spatula that SK asked before was counted as 1 item as well. And the shopkeeper assured them yes. ;-)
Here's the fun part, so now SK and the other woman (OL) keep on calculating, whether if it was worthy to buy more items. It was time to use their brain juice and their mathematics lessons learned during school days. (SK was very good in mathematics and advanced maths, she even was a top student, scoring straight As)
But they only able to find 3 spatulas and no more stock in the shop.
((2 x 59.90) + (3 x 4.50)) x 80% = RM106.64
The price is even lower than what they supposed paying. Plus they get 3 spatulas for FREE. ;-)

The shopkeeper looks like having more interest in helping us. She lent us the calculator. And she kept on pursuade us to buy more in order to reach RM110 and eligible for free Body Shop membership.
But we only interested on items that will help us pay less. And we started to search around for cheap product. Spatula (RM4.50) was the lowest price item, the next one was Face Sponge (RM8.50).
So another round of calculation, saved by the calculator, we no need to dig our head in calculating it.
((2 x 59.90) + (3 x 4.50) + (2 x RM8.50)) x 70% = RM105.21
Wow, even cheaper...

So at the end, 2 women and 1 sick guy went home happily - with 2 body butters with cheaper price, 3 FREE spatulas and 2 FREE face sponges.
Do you do this kind of shopping also, it trains your brain and grow your experience? ;-)
